Meg's Page
On Saturday 16th February 2008, our dog Meg peacefully departed this
world. I like to think, Ian was standing there with the Tardis door
open, and he was jangling the keys, saying, "Come on, Meg!" I
am trying to focus on what a lovely life
she had with Ian and I, but oh, it's so hard, I am going to miss her SO
much. She was SO beautiful.
Meg's last few minutes were very peaceful.
She got up about ten minutes
before, and it was very strange, she went to the
back door (bearing in mind how she was struggling to get up and walk
these last couple of days). I opened the door for her and she went out
and lay down on the deck, very peacefully. It was as if she was saying,
"I am ready to go now. I just want to spend these last few minutes in
my garden, one last time, in the fresh air and the sunshine." I am so
grateful for those last few minutes, and the chance to give her a hug
and a kiss good-bye (although I would love the chance to give her one
more hug!)
Meg had a lovely life, for a dog! A life well-lived. Her years with us
both, were the best, with Ian at home all day with her, she was
pampered and loved. I have, thanks to Ian, her entire life in photos,
probably at least a thousand photos! You only have to look at these to
see what a wonderful life she had.
I never thought of myself as a "dog person". Maybe it's not a case of
you are or you aren't, perhaps you become a dog person when you have a
dog and their little face and endearing ways and character steal a
piece of your heart. Meg was SO cute!
Night night my darling....sleep tight.
A few days later I wrote a poem in
Meg's memory.
Here is a page with my memories of
Meg, I will never forget her.
Here are the photos of Meg in her tee-shirt,
following her operation, six months earlier.
